Zoloft Linked to Severe Birth Defects

The FDA has reported that Zoloft and many other popular antidepressant drugs, anti-psychotics and seizure medicines can cause serious heart & lung birth defects


in the unborn babies of mothers taking these drugs during part of their pregnancy.

Based upon current scientific and medical research regarding Zoloft and its effects during pregnancy, the drug has been determined to be potentially harmful to the fetus during development. SSRI antidepressants including the popular drugs Zoloft, Lustral or Serlain (Generic: sertraline) have been linked to variety of severe birth defects including Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension (PPHN), heart, lung, abdominal and cranial defects. Although the drug may be determined necessary and prescribed by a physician during a pregnancy, there are several risks which should be considered.
