Derek H. Potts Appointed By Federal Judge to Lead Vaginal Sling Litigation

On September 21, 2011, Managing Partner Derek Potts was appointed by the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia to serve as Liaison Counsel and Co-Lead Counsel for the national OB Tape Transobturator Sling Products Liability Multidistrict Litigation.  This means that he is now responsible for leading and coordinating all of the plaintiffs lawsuits filed in United States federal courts related to the OB Tape vaginal sling product, which is made by Mentor Corporation.   Vaginal mesh and sling products, which are used to treat organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence in women, are under increasing scrutiny by the FDA and doctors due to recent studies showing high complication rates.
