Britney attended the University of Missouri – Columbia where she doubled majored in International Business and Spanish. She later graduated with her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law. While in law school, Britney clerked for the United States Attorney’s Office, the Missouri Administrative Hearing Commission, the Indiana Attorney General’s Office, and Missouri Legal Aid. She also studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, and Tokyo, Japan to broaden her knowledge in international human rights law and east/west negotiation, respectively.
Upon graduation, Britney moved to Houston to start her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office (“HCDAO”). Her tenure at the HCDAO allowed her to gain pre-trial practice/negotiation and trial experience. Britney is a trial dog. While there, she championed cases for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and fought for the families of murder victims. She first-chaired misdemeanor and felony trials, oversaw sexual assault investigations, and worked with members of law enforcement on investigatory policy and best practices. Britney’s passion for the law and for representing victims of injustice was born in District Criminal Court. One of the highlights of her career was securing the conviction of woman who brutally murdered a young man in front of his 5-year old daughter. Another was securing a conviction against a therapist who had stalked and harassed her own patient, causing her emotional trauma and instability. Restoring solace, peace, and dignity to her clients’ lives is Britney’s main goal. She is tenacious and dedicated to getting the best results for her clients. Before she left the District Attorney’s Office, Britney practiced in the Family Criminal Law Division and the Adult Sex Crimes Division where she investigated and prosecuted defendants charged with murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated/serial sexual assault.
Britney then returned to her roots in business and commercial law by obtaining her LL.M. in tax at the University of Houston Law Center. She transitioned into civil practice and commercial litigation at a tax firm with a robust commercial litigation docket that gave her the opportunity to cut her teeth in complex litigation and arbitration. Britney’s dedication to client satisfaction grew in this role because of her ability to attack civil cases with the same ferocious zeal and passion that she did in the criminal courtroom.
Britney is licensed to practice in the United States Tax Court, the Southern District of Texas, and is preparing for licensure in Missouri and Illinois. She handles commercial litigation, construction law, personal injury, and sexual misconduct cases.
