Charles is an attorney in our New Orleans office in the Property-Loss division. He uses his extensive litigation and construction experience in effective representation of clients in bad-faith insurance practices and claims handling cases.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he studied finance at Case Western Reserve University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cleveland Marshall College of Law, where he was the executive business and technology editor for the Global Business Law Review. In addition to his studies, he has been worked in the construction industry for over twenty years, managing his family’s successful roofing and construction business before and during law school. This experience has proven crucial in understanding the technical aspects of an insurance claim in addition to the legal aspects.
Following law school, he managed a solo practice in Ohio focused on property and business law before making the move to Louisiana to use his experience in the field of property insurance law. Prior to working at The Potts Law Firm, Charles worked as a defense attorney for one of the largest and most prestigious firms in the country. In this practice, he successfully defended cases involving personal injury claims and first-party insurance claims, including numerous cases from Hurricanes Laura, Delta, and Zeta. This taught him much about the inner working of the insurance industry and the tactics used to delay and underpay insurance claims. Following Hurricane Ida, Charles joined The Potts Law Firm, putting his experience to work and returning to his roots assisting homeowners and commercial property owners.
Currently, Charles is licensed to appear in all state and federal courts in Louisiana and Mississippi. He is also licensed to appear in all state courts in Ohio and Texas. In addition to his work at The Potts Law Firm, Charles is actively involved in St. Patrick’s Church and the Knights of Columbus, serving as Deputy Grand Knight of Marquette Council in New Orleans. In his spare time, Charles enjoys spending time with his wife, Erica and their three cats, cooking, and juggling.
