Meet J. Todd Trombley

Of Counsel (Houston)

Todd handles appellate matters and complex briefing issues for the Firm. To date, Todd has handled 60 appellate matters (appeals and original proceedings) as lead counsel. The trial and appellate matters that Todd has handled in state and federal court have resulted in 50 published opinions that have been cited more than 7,000 times by courts, commentators, and counsel in multiple jurisdictions. The variety of cases that Todd has handled over his 23 years in practice range from simple auto accidents, breach of contract claims, and landlord tenant disputes to complex medical malpractice claims, breach of fiduciary duty claims, medical product liability claims, Texas Prompt Pay Act claims, ERISA claims, Torture Victims Protection Act claims, Qui Tam/False Claims Act cases, federal Civil Forfeiture Act claims, and wide variety of other complex civil matters.

Todd received his J.D. degree, cum laude, from South Texas College of Law in 1998. Todd was an oral advocate and brief writer on the Varsity Moot Court Team at South Texas College of Law from 1996-1998. Along with his teammates, Todd earned two national appellate advocacy championships; one in 1996 at the William F. Starr Insurance Law Moot Court Competition at the University of Connecticut School of Law and the other in 1997 at the Evan A. Evans Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition at the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Todd received his B.A. degree in political science, summa cum laude, from the University of Houston in 1992. Todd was an Honors Graduate with the University of Houston Honors College and received the Outstanding Graduate Award for the College of Social Sciences for 1991-1992.
