Home From Haiti: Derek Potts Hosts Welcome Back Party for Houston Methodist Doctors Medical Trip
Derek Potts, founder and National Managing Partner of the Potts Law Firm, hosted doctors, family, and friends at B&B Butchers to welcome back the Houston Methodist urogynecologists who traveled to Pignon, Haiti to provide surgeries for women in desperate need. These doctors were able to provide these services because of donations made by the Potts Family Foundation. After seeing and evaluating patients and providing four educational lectures to Haitian doctors, the Houston Methodist team has returned home, and the welcome-back happy hour was the perfect way to celebrate a successful trip. Those in attendance heard from Derek Potts about the significance of the trip. Dr. Tristi Muir also expressed her gratitude for Derek’s generosity and provided details of the impact of the trip both in Haiti and back home in Houston.
Derek Potts, a nationally recognized trial lawyer, served as one of the lead attorneys on one of the largest medical device MDL (multidistrict litigation) consolidations in history. He represented more than 30,000 women across the United States and feels a personal connection as a result of his work in relation to pelvic floor disorders in women. As a byproduct of his donation to fund the trip, Derek Potts is helping the advancement of research. Because of our access to first-world care and specialists, very few cases in the U.S. are of the severity seen in Haiti. This provided an educational opportunity for the doctors on the trip and gave the doctors additional experience that they can use back in Houston.
