NHTSA Airbag Investigation: What We Need To Know

What You Need to Know about NHTSA's New Airbag Investigation

Government Investigation into Failed Airbags in Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Chrysler vehicles.

When your airbags don’t inflate, you must investigate!

“What You Need to Know about NHTSA’s New Airbag Investigation

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is expanding an investigation into malfunctioning airbags to cover an additional 12.3 million vehicles with airbags that could fail to inflate in a crash.

This recall affects certain models of cars by Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi, Toyota, and Fiat Chrysler, which contain an airbag control unit produced by ZF-TRW, a German auto-parts company.  The year, make and models vary, but if you have had any front crash with serious damage and your airbags did not deploy, you should contact us.

How does this happen?

This issue originates from “electrical interference from nearby wiring can cause the airbag control unit to fail.”  Also, wiring can corrode over time in some of these vehicles, resulting in the non-deployment of the airbag.

What happens when the unit fails?

Driver and passenger-side frontal airbags can fail to deploy during a crash.
