Astroworld Concert Stampede 8 Dead, 100S Injured

Travis Scott's Astroworld Concert Stampede Causes Eight Deaths and Hundreds of Injuries

On Friday evening, November 5, 2021, the Astroworld concert featuring rapper Travis Scott began in Houston, Texas.  The event began with a small stampede at a main entrance.  Hundreds of concertgoers rushed through the area without any concert security present.  Many were trampled during this initial rush.

A few hours later, the concert began.  Local rap and hip-hop artist Travis Scott began performing.  At approximately 9:15 PM the size of the audience swelled to 50,000.  It was at that time that superstar music artist Drake made a surprise appearance on stage.  The crowd rushed the stage.  A mass stampede ensued with hundreds being caught between the stage and the hundreds behind them.  The pressure caused many to fall to the ground where they were trampled and injured.  For an unfortunate eight, the injuries were too excessive and they died as a result. Those injured were taken to local hospitals nearby as well as to a field hospital at the event.

The Potts Law Firm is investigating this incident with full force.  The firm has extensive experience in stampede injury cases.  Similar to the Las Vegas shooting litigation, concert production companies may be negligent for various failures.  These include, but are not limited to:

  • failing to supply adequate security;
  • failing to implement safety measures to prevent stampedes;
  • failing to limit the number of concertgoers for a particular event
  • many other failures that are discovered during the lawsuit
